Bart & Sammy were 10 years old when they
came to RFSC for foster care in 2002
after numerous incarcerations in a San Diego animal shelter.
Their owners did not have a fenced yard, and the dogs often traipsed off
to explore.
Not many families are interested in adopting senior dogs, and even fewer
are prepared to take in a pair of seniors.
Bart & Sammy became permanent members of our family in September 2003.
Old goldens are the best there are, and we were happy to keep the
wonderful white dogs as our own.
Sammy went to Doggy Heaven on March 27, 2006, and Bart followed not
long after, on October 30, 2006. He had just turned 14 years
of age.

"Am I done yet?"

When the dogs first came to us, they were
very inquisitive with the cats.
Since becoming permanent family members, they have learned not to chase
their feline friends.

When Tabby, a 6-week-old kitten came to us, Bart was very intrigued but
gentle.
