Coral underwent
TPLO surgery for a cranial cruciate ligament rupture on Tuesday,
December 17, 2002. What a way to celebrate her "Gotcha Day"!
(She joined our family on Dec. 17, 2000, exactly two years ago.)
This photo was taken on 12/18, right after coming home. She's
a little perplexed about being confined in an X-Pen, but she's on a
6 week strict activity restriction - no walking except for going
potty! |

Since Coral usually stays right beside as I'm at
my computer, we thought putting the X-pen around my PC would help
her feel less isolated. |

12/21
- Day 4 post-op
VERY TIRED of the X-pen, Coral got some time out
to snuggle with dad on the couch. This was probably her most
difficult day - she wasn't much interested in food, and wouldn't
drink water (only milk and chicken broth!). Her Duragesic pain
patch came off today. |

December 22 - Day 5
Coral woke up
feeling MUCH IMPROVED! We abandoned the yucky X-Pen the
previous night. Instead of penning her in next to my bed, we kept
her leashed to the bed. She woke up a very happy, smiley girl,
and wanted desperately to play ball! The best we could do was
drop it to her.
Coral was
feeling so good today she figured out how to escape from her X-Pen.
We've had to lock it down now when we're not around to supervise! |

Smiley girl
LOVES to go outside. Today she's bearing quite a bit of weight
on her leg. We're having to slow her down on the leash as she
is ready to RUN, RUN, RUN! |

She thought it
was just a new woobie, but mommy bought her a "Tennis Tummy" - a
cute little toy with tennis balls in it's tummy, which is closed
with velcro. Unfortunately, she's not much into figuring out
how to get the tennis balls out! Oh well - at least she liked
nibbling on the little bunny's ears! |
