Welcome to our Dog Page!

Since this web site is mostly about our furry friends, you'll find many pictures here.
In the middle of this page you'll see links to our wonderful dogs we share our lives with.
A directory photos is at the bottom, including photos of our special Bridge Kids, and special trips we've taken with our dogs.

My introduction to Poodles came in 1994 when I began working for a home health company as a visiting nurse.  One of my patients had two apricot Miniature Poodles who LOVED to play ball.  After caring for my patient, I'd toss the ball for his canine friends while completing my paperwork. I began to look forward to this visit each week, but still didn't really think much of the Poodle breed.  After all, they had silly hairstyles and were frou-frou dogs!  Plus, my preference was always for much larger, retriever-sized dogs.

When I began my involvement in Golden Retriever rescue, my partner in our program was quite the Poodle lover and would foster these wonderful dogs.  Subsequently, my paths would cross with an occasional Poodle as well as the Goldens.  One day I picked up a precious 11-year-old brown Miniature Poodle named Coco that my friend was going to be caring for until a forever home was found.  This little girl loved to give hugs and kisses, and one could hardly maintain a poodle-phobic demeanor around her.  Before too long Coco showed me that Poodles are not only affectionate, but funny and smart too!  I thought they would be a really great dog for OTHER people, but certainly not for Golden-loving me.

In January 2006 I received a fateful call from someone with a Poodle who needed a new home.  No one else was free to meet with the owner who was desperate to find a foster home for her dog.  No problem, I thought - I could take care of him temporarily until my rescue partner was back in town.  "Sam" came to me a matted, filthy mess, completely unkempt.  While he didn't look very handsome at the time, it certainly didn't diminish his happy, fun Poodle personality!  The little five-pound boy would jump up repeatedly like a bouncing ball, begging to be picked up.  Within a couple of days I was totally smitten and in love.  "Sam" became "Scooter" and was our first Poodle addition.  Since then we've two more Toy Poodles, two Miniature Poodles and two Standard Poodles (see below).

I hope you enjoy "visiting" with our canine family members by clicking on their pictures below.  We think they're pretty great and hope you do too!
