Golden Acres is a retirement home for aging, senior golden retrievers, and
these wonderful dogs allow us to share their home with them. In the
last 1 1/2 years since we purchased our five acres out in the
"boonies", we've managed to put up 2,000 feet of vinyl rail
fencing (did it all ourselves), dig three miles worth of trenches for the
irrigation system (all by ourselves!), and install the pipe and drip
system for the grass and trees. We are now
beginning the construction of custom kennels and
a daytime play yard for goldens rescued from the
animal shelters. (Click here for more
information on this project.) This will help us keep them isolated from the
healthy dogs and let us take in more needy, homeless dogs until a
permanent home can be found. |

This glorious sunset was captured October 25, 2000,
atop
Golden Acres! Yes, we love it here! |

| Here's a front view of our home, looking south
east. You'll notice the railroad ties that are going to be used as a
border around the driveway and other areas. Since this photo was
taken, we've planted 60 15-gallon trees and
twelve 24 inch box trees. The area on the
left, out of view, will be fenced separately as
a daytime play yard for rescue dogs. |

Looking out south west.

| The hills back behind our property, facing north
east. Packs of coyotes live in this ravine. We also once
spotted a bobcat back in this area! Other native wildlife include
lots of rabbits, squirrels, deer and raccoons. We are hoping to be
able to purchase this property behind us if the owner decides to sell it. |

Our home and garage.
The kennels will be situated where
the yellow Mustang is parked.

| The living room (where Ed spends his
evenings!) That's Barkley and Ripley chewing on their nylabones.
See the golden retriever picture hanging on the wall? |

My favorite part of the whole house - the fire
place!
Goldens everywhere - even on the mantle!
|

Laurie's office, where she spends nearly all her
time when
home and awake! Note the tennis balls under the
desk that
find their way throughout the house!

Our bedroom. We'd show you a picture of
Jeremy's room but he needs to clean it! :-))
